Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Strategy & Governance
- Develop and execute the engineering vision, roadmap, and capital investment strategy to support operational and organizational goals.
- Establish robust engineering policies, standards, and procedures in line with industry best practices and compliance frameworks.
- Lead the development and deployment of engineering KPIs focused on reliability, performance, cost, and sustainability.
- Asset Management & Maintenance Excellence
- Oversee preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs for all critical equipment and infrastructure (e.g., RTGs, MHC's, RS,ECH,etc).
- Ensure high availability and performance of operational assets through structured maintenance planning and root cause analysis.
- Optimize total cost of ownership (TCO) through lifecycle engineering and data-driven decision-making.
- Performance Management, Planning and Budgeting:
- Ensure targets of equipment performance set by the management are achieved.
- Optimizing fuel efficiency and ensure compliance to management targets.
- Prepare annual budget and capital expenditure programs.
- Managing and controlling expenses to remain within budget limit.
- Control cost per box and ensure compliance to management targets.
- Managing capital expenditure within the approved budget and time frame.
- Ensure that all relevant HSE legislations and DP World's policies are fulfilled and incorporated in department's strategic / long term plans / policies and implemented accordingly. Keep updated of new development in HSE.
- Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental (HSE), and regulatory requirements across all engineering operations.
- Lead risk assessments, technical audits, and critical incident investigations related to equipment or engineering failure.
- Maintain full compliance with local regulations, OEM standards, and industry certifications.
- People Leadership & Development
- Build and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary engineering team; foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and innovation.
- Identify capability gaps and implement training plans for engineers, supervisors, and technical staff.
- Collaborate closely with HR and Training functions to support technical succession planning and knowledge retention.
- Stakeholder and Cross-functional Engagement
- Partner with operations, procurement, finance, and HSE teams to ensure alignment and integration of engineering initiatives.
- Serve as the technical advisor to executive leadership and represent the department in board-level or regulatory engagements.
- Liaise with OEMs, contractors, and technology partners for upgrades, vendor development, and contract performance.
- Education & Certification
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering is required.
- Master's Degree or Executive Certification in Engineering Management, Asset Management, or Project Management is preferred.
- Professional Engineering License or Chartership is an asset (PE, CEng, etc.).
- Experience
- Minimum 12–15 years of engineering experience with container handling equipment, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership or director-level.
- Strong track record in managing large-scale maintenance operations.
- Demonstrated leadership in asset-heavy sectors including ports, terminals, logistics, industrial operations, or infrastructure utilities.
- Experience of planning and budgeting using computer system like Maximo, etc.
- Manage contracts work with related project management methodology and system
- Having experience of implementation of maintenance policy and develop appropriate programs for mechanical, electrical & electronics works.
- Technical & Digital Skills
- Proficient in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), asset management systems, and project management tools.
- Exposure to Industry 4.0, smart maintenance, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and condition-based monitoring is desirable.
- Strong command of engineering economics, budgeting, lifecycle costing, and capital planning.
