We are looking for an enthusiastic, student-centered Music & Art teacher who designs engaging lessons, builds strong relationships with students, and enjoys helping learners express themselves creatively. Role Overview

The American International School of Algiers (AISA) is seeking a creative and engaging Music & Art Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year.

The Music & Art teacher will help students develop artistic skills, creative confidence, and an appreciation of music and visual arts from around the world. Instruction will emphasize hands-on creation, performance, and exploration in meaningful contexts.

The teacher will work with students across multiple grade levels and collaborate closely with classroom teachers and school leadership to ensure that arts instruction complements the school's broader academic program.

As part of a small but growing international school, the Music & Art teacher will play an important role in bringing the school community together through performances, exhibitions, and cultural celebrations.

Primary Responsibilities1. Teaching & Learning

• Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned music and visual art lessons across grade levels.

• Develop students' skills in singing, rhythm, instruments, drawing, painting, and mixed media through hands-on activities and projects.

• Use age-appropriate and differentiated strategies to support students with varying levels of experience and ability.

• Create a classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking creative risks and expressing themselves.

• Integrate music and art from diverse cultures, including Algerian and Francophone traditions, to make learning meaningful.

• Use technology thoughtfully to support creativity and artistic learning.

• Maintain clear classroom routines and care of instruments, materials, and shared spaces.

2. Student Support, Growth & Safety

• Monitor and assess student progress using formative assessments, portfolios, and regular feedback.

• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and development.

• Collaborate with classroom teachers, the Special Needs Coordinator, and school leadership to support diverse learners.

• Encourage student confidence, curiosity, and persistence in creative work.

• Uphold safety standards through appropriate supervision and required annual safeguarding training.

3. Professional Collaboration

• Participate in weekly planning meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and school-wide professional development.

• Collaborate with homeroom teachers and other specialists to connect the arts with classroom themes and projects.

• Lead or support performances, concerts, exhibitions, and school-wide cultural celebrations.

4. Classroom Culture & Family Partnership

• Create an inclusive and positive classroom environment centered on respect and participation.

• Celebrate the artistic, linguistic, and cultural diversity of the school community.

• Partner with families to share and celebrate student creativity through events and showcases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Music, Art, Arts Education, or related field (Master's preferred)

• Ideally 2–3 years of teaching experience, ideally in an international or multilingual environment

• Ability to teach both music and visual art strongly preferred; strength in one with willingness to teach the other considered

• Proficiency in English required; French and/or Arabic an asset
