Role Description The Senior Telecommunications Technician Level 2 is a part-time, on-site role based in Hassi Messaoud, focused on maintaining and optimizing telecommunications infrastructure that supports Sonatrach’s oil and gas operations. Day-to-day responsibilities include installing, configuring, and testing telecommunication systems and telephony equipment, as well as performing routine inspections on cabling and network hardware to ensure reliability and safety. The technician diagnoses and troubleshoots system faults, replaces or repairs defective components, and documents interventions and maintenance activities in accordance with company standards. The role also involves collaborating with engineering and operations teams to support field communications, participating in system upgrades, and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and industry regulations.
Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing, analyzing, and resolving telecom-related technical issues.
- Hands-on experience with telecommunications systems and general telecommunications infrastructure in industrial environments.
- Knowledge of telephony solutions, including configuration, maintenance, and integration with existing networks.
- Practical expertise in cabling (installation, testing, labeling, and maintenance) for voice and data networks.
- Vocational diploma, technical certificate, or degree in telecommunications, electronics, IT, or a related field.
- Several years of experience in telecommunications support, preferably in oil and gas or other industrial sectors.
- Familiarity with safety standards and procedures relevant to field work and hazardous environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on-site.
- Willingness to work in Hassi Messaoud and adapt to field schedules and operational demands.
