Summary – Basic Function Of The Role The primary function of this position is to provide professional and friendly service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the workshop. The Shop Clerk is responsible for maintaining product availability, monitoring inventory, receiving merchandise, and ensuring the workshop is clean, organized, and safe. The position requires a safety-focused individual who can communicate effectively, work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and follow company policies and safety procedures. Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist customers and vendors in a friendly, professional, and helpful manner.
- Process orders and transactions accurately in accordance with company procedures.
- Stock shelves and replenish merchandise as needed to maintain appropriate product availability.
- Arrange material storage and ensure merchandise is properly organized, presented, and labeled.
- Monitor inventory levels and report low-stock, damaged, or missing items to the supervisor.
- Receive, unpack, inspect, and organize incoming deliveries.
- Assist with maintaining accurate inventory records and perform stock counts as required.
- Maintain the shop in a clean, organized, and safe condition at all times.
- Ensure products and merchandise are stored in accordance with company requirements.
- Follow company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and loss prevention guidelines.
- Assist with general workshop duties and other activities as assigned by the supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient workshop operations. Skills And Competencies
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, and supervisors.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and point-of-sale or inventory systems.
- Ability to accurately handle transactions, inventory information, and routine documentation.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a busy shop environment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, company policies, safety procedures, and loss prevention guidelines.
- Reliable and professional approach to work. Education And Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous warehouse, or shop-floor experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with inventory management, stock handling, or order processing is a plus.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications are preferred.
- Experience using an ERP, POS, or inventory management system is a plus.
