Security Executive – West Region
Purpose
• Protect people, products, assets, information, operations, and business continuity across BAT Algeria’s West Region through proactive, intelligence-led, and risk-based security management.
• Lead day-to-day operations and trade security across Oran Factory, warehouses, distribution routes, third-party logistics, trade teams, and field-force activities.
• Support the Country Security Manager and business stakeholders by implementing security standards, maintaining regional readiness, and providing timely advice on threats, incidents, and risk mitigation. Principal Accountabilities Operations / Professional / Business
• Implement the Algeria and MENA security strategy across the West Region, translating requirements into practical site, logistics, route, and trade security controls.
• Conduct and maintain security risk assessments for Oran Factory, warehouses, guesthouse, routes, third-party providers, trade locations, events, and field-force activities; track mitigation actions through closure.
• Maintain effective physical and electronic security controls, including guarding, access control, CCTV, alarms, control-room monitoring, keys, seals, passes, visitor management, and vehicle screening.
• Protect finished goods, raw materials, equipment, and company assets throughout storage, loading, dispatch, transportation, delivery, and return processes.
• Coordinate route risk reviews, transport clearances, vehicle-tracking follow-up, driver security requirements, escalation arrangements, and response to product loss, diversion, robbery, or transport disruption.
• Provide trade teams with practical security support covering field movements, cash or high-value exposure where applicable, market visits, events, travel, civil unrest, and localized crime risks.
• Monitor smuggling, counterfeit, illicit trade, theft, vandalism, product diversion, and other threats that could affect legitimate trade or BAT’s reputation; share relevant intelligence through approved channels.
• Support incident response and investigations, preserve evidence, maintain confidentiality, and coordinate with Legal, HR, Compliance, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, and external authorities as required.
• Review and update Operations business continuity plans with plan owners, coordinate exercises, document lessons learned, and track corrective actions.
• Produce accurate daily, weekly, and monthly incidents, risk, contractor, KPI, audit, and management reports, escalating material issues without delay. Management
• Supervise regional security personnel and third-party guarding teams, providing clear directions, deployment oversight, training, and performance management.
• Ensure security providers maintain required registers, records, post instructions, vetting documentation, attendance controls, and operating procedures.
• Complete monthly contractor KPIs and service reviews for guarding, CCTV, alarms, and other security suppliers; initiate corrective action for performance gaps.
• Maintain West Region SOPs, post orders, emergency instructions, response plans, and training records in line with BAT requirements and local law.
• Plan regional audits, inspections, drills, vulnerability reviews, and assurance activities; report findings and verify sustainable closure.
• Support security budgets, procurement, purchase orders, invoice validation, vendor governance, and cost-effective delivery of security improvements. Leadership
• Provide visible leadership to the West Region security team and build a disciplined, accountable, service-oriented security culture.
• Act as the primary regional security point of contact during incidents, emergencies, and operational disruptions, escalating promptly to the Country Security Manager.
• Coach security leads, supervisors, guards, control-room operators, and logistics controllers to maintain professional standards and consistent execution.
• Deliver security inductions, toolbox talks, awareness sessions, and scenario-based drills for employees, contractors, drivers, and trade teams.
• Deputize for the Country Security Manager when formally delegated and support wider Algeria security priorities when required. Relationships
• Partner closely with Oran Factory leadership, Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehousing, Trade, Commercial, EHS, HR, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Procurement, IT, and Facilities.
• Maintain effective coordination with the Country Security Manager, MENA Security team, and other regional security colleagues.
• Develop appropriate working relationships with police, Gendarmerie, Civil Protection, local authorities, emergency services, and trusted security-information networks.
• Manage professional relationships with guarding, technology, transportation, warehousing, and other third-party service providers supporting regional operations. Innovation and Continuous Improvement
• Continuously monitor emerging security threats, geopolitical developments, crime trends, civil unrest indicators, and technology developments relevant to Algeria.
• Recommend practical and cost-effective improvements to security systems, procedures, training, reporting, and incident response capability.
• Support the integration of security considerations into digital transformation, workplace changes, supply chain changes, and business projects.
• Promote a forward-looking security culture that encourages employees to act as security ambassadors and report concerns early.
• Incorporate efficiency, sustainability, and risk-based decision-making into physical security arrangements and vendor management. Key Success Factors
• No avoidable security-related disruption to West Region operations or trade activities.
• Security risk assessments, mitigation actions, audits, business continuity plans, and testing are completed on time and to the required standard.
• Strong control of product, asset, access, route, warehouse, and field-force security risks, with rapid escalation of material concerns.
• Security providers consistently meet contractual, procedural, training, staffing, and performance requirements.
• Incidents are reported, contained, investigated, documented, and closed promptly, with learning embedded into preventive controls.
• Operations and Trade stakeholders view Security as a reliable business partner that enables safe, compliant, and efficient execution. Critical Knowledge, Skills, And Experience
• Relevant experience in corporate, manufacturing, logistics, supply-chain, trade, military, law-enforcement, or private-sector security.
• Practical knowledge of physical security, warehouse and route security, product protection, investigations, risk assessment, incident response, crisis management, and business continuity.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise security teams and service providers across multiple sites and mobile operations.
• Working knowledge of guarding operations, CCTV, access control, alarm systems, control rooms, keys, seals, vehicle screening, and tracking systems.
• Ability to analyze threats, issue clear advice, prioritize controls, and make sound decisions under operational pressure.
• Strong stakeholder-management, influencing, reporting, and presentation skills, with confidence engaging leaders and external authorities.
• Fluency in Arabic and French, with strong English capability for regional engagement and reporting.
• Good digital literacy, including incident reporting, risk registers, dashboards, tracking systems, and standard business applications.
• High integrity, discretion, accountability, resilience, and willingness to travel or respond outside normal hours when operationally required.
