Algiers, Algérie Corpus Temps plein
ABOUT CORPUS Corpus is an Algerian LegalTech startup building AI-powered products that help legal professionals work with complex legal information more efficiently. Our flagship product, ScribeAI, is live in the market and already trusted by leading organizations. It’s an advanced legal AI assistant that transforms how legal professionals search, analyze, and work with legal information. We’re looking for a Frontend Engineer to join our engineering team, help maintain, extend, and continuously improve ScribeAI, and contribute to future Corpus products.

ABOUT THE ROLE
You’ll work on ScribeAI, a live production application built with Next.js, React, and TypeScript. This isn’t a demo or a prototype. It’s a real product with real users, and your work directly affects its quality and user experience. You’ll improve the interface, optimize performance, deliver new features, and fix bugs to make our products more reliable, responsive, and maintainable. You’ll collaborate closely with backend and AI engineers to build interfaces around increasingly sophisticated AI capabilities, from streaming chat responses and legal citations to document analysis and long-running research workflows. We’re looking for someone who does more than implement designs and thinks about how people interact with complex technology: how do we make a sophisticated AI system feel simple, fast, and trustworthy? You’ll also contribute to the evolution of the frontend architecture as Corpus grows. WHY JOIN CORPUS Legal technology is a new and largely untapped field in Algeria, and ScribeAI is already proving its value across the public and private sectors. A more advanced product is in the works, and the team is growing behind a roadmap with a clear business strategy. Joining Corpus means helping define what LegalTech looks like here. WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Build and maintain production features in the ScribeAI web application
• Develop AI-native chat experiences, including streaming responses, conversation history, and clear UI states for loading, partial results, errors, and retries
• Build interfaces for legal sources and citations, including source previews and retrieved documents
• Improve document workflows: PDF and DOCX upload, viewing, analysis, and library management
• Evolve the Deep Search experience, with real-time progress, intermediate results, and long-running multi-step research operations
• Design interfaces for different interaction modes: general legal Q&A, library analysis, selected-text analysis, and web research
• Build the supporting product surfaces: search and filtering, sidebar navigation, authentication, settings, and subscriptions
• Manage client and server state, and integrate with backend APIs and streaming events
• Work on Next.js API routes that connect the interface to our AI and document-processing services
• Collaborate with backend and AI engineers on API contracts, event schemas, and new AI capabilities
• Improve performance, accessibility, responsiveness, and mobile usability
• Diagnose and resolve production issues, and help raise test coverage over time
• Contribute to frontend standards and reusable patterns for future Corpus products TECH STACK
• Core: Next.js, React, TypeScript
• Styling & UI: Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion
• State & data: Zustand, React Query
• Documents: react-pdf, docx-preview, React Markdown
• Authentication: Clerk
• Testing: Vitest
• Integration: REST APIs, Next.js API routes, and streaming AI responses WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• Around 2 years of relevant professional experience is preferred. Candidates who show equivalent ability through substantial projects, internships, open-source contributions, or a strong portfolio are equally welcome
• Strong practical knowledge of React and TypeScript
• Hands-on experience with Next.js and modern frontend development
• Solid understanding of component architecture, hooks, asynchronous state, and error handling
• Experience integrating APIs and handling asynchronous operations
• Understanding of responsive design (with Tailwind CSS or a comparable styling system), web performance, and accessibility
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code and debug issues systematically
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows
• Clear communication and the ability to work closely with backend, AI, and product teams
• A proactive mindset, willingness to learn, and a sense of ownership over your work NICE TO HAVE
• Experience building AI-powered products, such as chat interfaces, AI assistants, RAG systems, or agentic workflows
• Experience with streaming responses or Server-Sent Events
• Experience with document-heavy interfaces: PDF viewers, document previews, Markdown rendering, or rich text
• Familiarity with automated testing (unit, integration, or component tests)
• Hands-on experience with React Query, Zustand, Framer Motion, or Clerk
• Experience with multilingual interfaces (i18n), especially French and Arabic, including right-to-left layouts
• Experience on SaaS products or in an early-stage startup
• Interest in LegalTech, knowledge management, or other information-dense products WHAT MATTERS MOST You don’t need to know every technology in our stack. We value demonstrated ability, sound engineering fundamentals, curiosity, and a willingness to take responsibility for product quality. If you can understand an existing codebase, solve problems, learn independently, and turn ideas into reliable features, we want to hear from you.

WHAT WE OFFER
• Competitive compensation that grows with your tenure and your impact
• A clear growth path: engineers who prove themselves can move into a team lead role as the team expands
• Responsibility that grows with your performance, from implementing features to shaping how they are built
• Work directly with the CTO and a multidisciplinary engineering team
• Hands-on experience building advanced AI interfaces and production AI products
