1. Position Overview

We are seeking an 
ECM Engineer

to support the design, development, integration, and maintenance of enterprise content management solutions using 
OpenText Content Server

, 
OpenText Documentum

, and 
Alfresco Community

. 

This position is open to candidates with backgrounds in 
ECM/EDMS systems

or 
Java ecosystem development

who are motivated to specialize in ECM platforms. 

Vendor-specific experience (OpenText, Documentum, Alfresco) is a plus but 
not required

; training and onboarding will be provided. 

2. Functional Domains

Enterprise Content Management (ECM) & EDMS

• Metadata modeling, content types, taxonomy design
• Document lifecycle configuration and version management
• Permission models (ACL, RBAC), user roles, and security structures

Business Requirements & Analysis

• Participation in requirement-gathering workshops
• Analysis and documentation of business needs
• Translation of functional requirements into ECM features
• Support for UAT and solution validation

Content Capture, OCR, and AI

• OCR/IDP workflow configuration (Tesseract, ABBYY, Google Vision, Textract, etc.)
• Automated classification, extraction, and indexing

Records Management

• Definition of retention schedules and disposition workflows
• Management of legal hold and compliance rules

Workflow Automation (BPMN)

• Implementation using Activiti, Flowable, or Camunda
• Document routing, task assignments, and approval processes

Digital Signature

• Integration with signature providers (AGCE, DocuSign, Adobe Sign, OpenTrus)
• Configuration of signing workflows and approval cycles

Governance & Compliance

• Support for governance frameworks
• Application of policies aligned with ISO 15489, GDPR-related aspects

Integrations

• REST API–based integrations with ERP/CRM systems (SAP, Odoo, Sage, etc.)
• Data ingestion, synchronization, and migration processes

3. Key Responsibilities

Solution Engineering

• Configure metadata schemas, content types, permissions, and lifecycles
• Implement document classes, automation rules, and retention policies
• Support architecture definition and repository structure design

Development & Customization

• Develop ECM extensions using Java and JavaScript
• Build integrations using REST APIs
• Create automation scripts, connectors, or UI components

SQL & Reporting (Mandatory)

• Write SQL queries for metadata extraction, auditing, and analysis
• Support troubleshooting of workflows, indexing, and permissions
• Assist in migrations and ETL activities

OCR / IDP Implementation

• Configure OCR pipelines and extraction rules
• Optimize accuracy and processing performance

System Support & Troubleshooting

• Diagnose complex issues (indexing failures, permissions, workflows)
• Monitor system performance and support optimization efforts
• Provide L2/L3 assistance during delivery phases

Documentation & Client Interaction

• Produce technical documentation, design specifications, and SOPs
• Present features and solutions to clients in meetings, demos, or training sessions
• Collaborate with business and technical teams throughout the project lifecycle

4. Required Technical Skills

Core Technical Requirements

• Strong 
  SQL

skills (mandatory)
- Understanding of 
REST APIs

- Knowledge of the 
Java ecosystem

(Java, Maven/Gradle, Spring basics)
- Web development fundamentals: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Familiarity with 
Linux

- Version control systems

• Versioning, auditing, and repository organization

Nice to Have

• Experience with Alfresco, Documentum, OpenText, Nuxeo, SharePoint, Hyland , Laserfiche
• BPMN tools (Flowable, Activiti, Camunda)
• OCR/IDP technologies (Tesseract, PaddleOCR)
• Search/indexing engines (Solr, Elasticsearch)
• Docker and CI/CD basics
