Job Summary:

We are seeking a
Senior Geomodeller
to join our
subsurface team in Algiers
, specializing in
3D static reservoir modeling, rock typing integration, and saturation-height (Sw) modeling
. This role is critical for
building robust geological models
that honor petrophysical, geological, and dynamic data to support field development and reservoir management. The ideal candidate will have
extensive experience in Algerian fields
, a strong background in
collaborating with petrophysicists and reservoir engineers
, and expertise in
incorporating rock types and Sw models into reservoir simulations
.

Key Responsibilities:

1. 3D Static Reservoir Modeling

  • Build
    high-resolution 3D static geological models
    using industry-standard software (
    Petrel
    ).
  • Integrate
    well logs, core data, seismic attributes, and geological concepts
    to create accurate reservoir frameworks.
  • Ensure models capture
    structural complexity, stratigraphy, and sedimentological heterogeneity
    .

2. Rock Typing & Facies Modeling

  • Work closely with
    petrophysicists and geologists
    to
    incorporate rock types and electrofacies
    into geological models.
  • Develop
    facies models
    that honor
    depositional environments, well data, and geological trends
    .
  • Validate rock type distributions using
    well data, analog studies, and dynamic reservoir behavior
    .

3. Saturation-Height (Sw) Modeling

  • Integrate
    petrophysical Sw models
    (e.g., J-function, Leverett-J) into
    3D property modeling
    .
  • Collaborate with
    petrophysicists
    to ensure
    consistent saturation distributions
    between well logs and geological models.
  • Calibrate Sw models with
    production data, well tests, and dynamic reservoir performance
    .

4. Property Modeling & Upscaling

  • Distribute
    petrophysical properties
    (porosity, permeability, saturation) using
    geostatistical techniques
    (e.g., SGS, Kriging, object-based modeling).
  • Perform
    upscaling workflows
    to preserve geological heterogeneity for reservoir simulation.
  • Ensure property models are
    fit-for-purpose
    for dynamic simulation and reservoir management.

5. Collaboration with Reservoir Engineers

  • Work closely with
    reservoir engineers
    to ensure geological models are
    suitable for dynamic simulation
    .
  • Support
    history matching
    by providing
    realistic geological scenarios
    and uncertainty ranges.
  • Iterate on models based on
    simulation results and production data
    .

6. Uncertainty & Risk Assessment

  • Conduct
    uncertainty analysis
    (e.g., multiple realizations, sensitivity studies) to assess impact on reserves and production forecasts.
  • Provide
    geological input
    for
    volumetric calculations and resource estimations
    .
  • Document
    model assumptions, uncertainties, and recommendations
    for management.

7. Data Integration & Quality Control

  • Perform
    rigorous QC of input data
    (well logs, seismic, core) and model outputs.
  • Ensure
    consistency between geological, petrophysical, and dynamic data
    .
  • Validate models against
    production history, pressure data, and well performance
    .

8. Field Development Support

  • Contribute to
    field development plans (FDPs)
    by providing
    geological insights and risk assessments
    .
  • Support
    well planning and optimization
    by identifying
    sweet spots, baffles, and flow barriers
    .
  • Participate in
    integrated reservoir studies
    and
    peer reviews
    .

9. Mentorship & Technical Leadership

  • Mentor
    junior geomodelers and geoscientists
    in best practices for reservoir modeling.
  • Stay updated on
    emerging geomodeling technologies
    and implement them in workflows.
  • Present
    technical findings and recommendations
    to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master's or PhD in Geology, Petroleum Geoscience, or Reservoir Engineering
    .
  • Relevant certifications
    (e.g., SPE, EAGE) are a plus.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of geomodeling experience
    , with a
    strong focus on clastic reservoirs
    .
  • Proven experience in Algerian fields
    (e.g., Hassi Messaoud, Berkine Basin, or similar).
  • Experience collaborating with petrophysicists and reservoir engineers
    to integrate
    rock typing and Sw modeling
    into reservoir simulations.
  • Familiarity with
    reservoir simulation workflows
    (e.g., Eclipse, INTERSECT).

Technical Skills:

  • Geomodeling software
    :
    Petrel
    (expert level).
  • Petrophysical integration
    : Experience with
    Techlog, Interactive Petrophysics, or Geolog
    .
  • Geostatistics & uncertainty analysis
    .
  • Scripting/automation
    :
    Python, MATLAB, or RMS scripting
    (a plus).

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    .
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    (English and French mandatory).
